CAT | Newspaper Column – Bancroft Times

I’ve been trying to find out who to write to at Visa and PayPal to protest their violation of my democratic right to freedom of expression and freedom of speech, which I want to exercise by supporting Julian Assange and WikiLeaks.

I was actually naïve enough to believe I could do that…that I was free to send him my donation. Reality certainly hit me hard…like millions of other Canadians I have found myself dictated to by a mighty corporation or two, Visa, PayPal and MasterCard, as to whom I can and cannot support.

What’s worse, while there is a mass violation of millions of Canadian’s right to express their support, there is not a single peep from our government!

I wrote directly to RBC Visa (Royal Bank Visa) and received the responses at the bottom of this post. I wrote to PayPal and obviously they’ve blown me off because there’s not a peep from them.

What a bunch of !#$$%%, as my father would have said. Hiding behind a large corporate fog, claiming they have no influence until the annual meeting of Visa shareholders and if I want to talk with Visa about this violation of my basic freedoms, I can do it at the time of their shareholders’ meeting and what’s more, I need to find out through other sources when that meeting is.

The man (Assange), has never been charged with anything to do with espionage, criminal activity, etc. It’s pretty clear to everyone that he is being framed with these ‘sexual’ charges. While I can use PayPal and Visa to support KKK, pornographers, child molesters and terrorists cells, I cannot support Assange, whose only ‘crime’ was to disseminate information he received from others….as in journalism. It seems the big wigs in US government are stopping at nothing…many people are worried that ‘nothing’ means that they will eventually kill him off.

I hate to be cynical, but this is the nest of people who let loose the CIA and other conscience-less power dealers every time they want to generate more income or get more power somewhere in the world.

I want to support Assange because I am ashamed that all these horrible crimes against humanity, from bank manipulations that cause horrific hardship in people’s lives to illegal wars, are done in my name as a citizen of a country that supports such activity. There should be no secrets from me when they are acting in my name as a citizen of a free country…ever.

According to Norman Solomon, author of War Made Easy: How Presidents and Pundits Keep Spinning us to Death, 15% of the casualties in WW1 were civilians, 65% in WW2 and now more than 90% of the casualties in Iraq have been civilians. Notice the trend? Soon the only way to be sure you are safe will be to enlist in the military!

I happened to come upon a list of the characteristics of a ‘psychopath’ by Michael Conner, Psy.D. (2001). Here are some from that list and I leave it to your imagination as to how well these characteristics fit the ‘leaders’ you know:

• superficial charm (politicians and bankers???)
• self-centered & self-important (politicians, bankers and CEOs????)
• deceptive behavior & lying (ditto???)
• conning & manipulative (ditto???)
• little remorse or guilt (ditto???)
• shallow emotional response (notice how so on National TV as they scurry to cover up their misdeeds)
• callous with a lack of empathy (who cares if 90% of the casualties in Iraq were civilians?)
• living off others or predatory attitude (Big Business, Banks, Monsanto, etc with headliner politicians working for them???)
• poor self-control (as in telling the public anything and everything, none of which is true) Check out some pretty enlightening quotes at Question War which tell us exactly how these people think and feel.
.promiscuous sexual behavior (I’m thinking Clinton and Edwards here and don’t know about the others, but I’ll bet you could have a long list if you wanted to research it)
• early behavioral problems (think the Bush dynasty, lead by Prescott Bush, the patriarch of the Bush dynasty, who said in an interview in 1966: “There are three things to remember: claim everything [that is supposedly good], explain nothing [about what you do behind people’s back], [and] deny everything [when your wrongdoings are revealed].” I believe we are at the ‘deny everything stage now’.
• lack of realistic long term goals (this we’ve all seen for ourselves)
• impulsive lifestyle (start a war or two, ask questions later)
• irresponsible behavior (Iraq, Afganistan, Vietnam, Monsanto, BP, etc)
• blaming others for their actions (starting with Julian Assange and WikiLeaks)
• varied criminal activity (lying, murdering in the name of ‘protecting us’, flying the Bin Laden family out of US without interrogation first…you get the drift)

Enjoy this wonderful article in the “>Huffington Post on the hipocrisies and travesties launched in our names.

In Canada it seems, we sit quietly hoping that we won’t be affected by the chaos around the world… the indifference probably the result of fluoride in the water, causing us to be complacent and placid (side effects of fluoride known since the days of Stalin).

If every conscious American and Canadian would write a protest letter to their heads of government and to these dictator companies, we may avert a world-wide takeover of what’s left of our democracies. Bless people like Assange who have the courage to put their entire lives (he may get killed over this) on the line to make the truth percolate to the top. I can’t wait for him to release information about the robber bankers and the destructive systems they have foisted on us…can’t wait 

Conversation with RBC Visa:

Dear Ms. Joubarne:

My name is Brad, and I’m happy to continue our conversation about Visa Inc.

Thanks for following up–according to Visa’s corporate site, the last annual meeting was held January 20, 2010. It’s likely the next meeting will be held around that time.

You can find Visa Inc.’s investor relations page here:

http://investor.visa.com

I would suggest keeping an eye on it to see when the next annual meeting is scheduled.

Thanks for contacting us, Ms. Joubarne, and I trust I’ve pointed you in the right direction. We’ll be happy to help you again if there’s anything else you’d like to discuss.

If you prefer, you can call us any time at 1-800-769-2512. Also, look for the option to chat live with us on select pages on www.rbcroyalbank.com .

Thank you Brad.
Can you advise when the next shareholders meeting is…the one you mentioned that would allow RBC to bring our protests to Visa’s attention?
RBC is associated with a very undemocratic, tyrannical enterprise. Maybe RBC feels it has to accept that sort of behavior, but I’m a little person and I don’t. That will be the day when I accept that a company like Visa is going to treat me as though I have no right to decide what/who I support with my money.

I look forward to your advisement about this ‘annual meeting’.

I would also appreciate it if you could provide me with the direct address (email or snail mail) where I can personally protest to Visa.

Dear Ms. Joubarne:

My name is Brad, and I appreciate your concern regarding credit card processors’ recent decision regarding Wikileaks.

I would like to thank you, first, for taking the time to write in about this. I know that it’s frustrating to be told who you can or cannot give your money to–and I want to assure you that if it were up to us here at RBC, we wouldn’t prevent you from directing your disposable income to the philanthropic cause of your choice.

That said–as you know, the decision was made by Visa Inc. RBC Royal Bank only sends out the money to pay the merchant/organisation–the Visa network is what makes sure that the payment actually arrives. Unfortunately, Visa has decided not to process any charge to WikiLeaks–which means that since they won’t allow WikiLeaks to receive money, there’s no point in charging it to your RBC credit card.

At the same time, I’ve documented your concern for the RBC feedback department. While we don’t have total control over Visa Inc, we are a shareholder along with every other Visa bank. If enough clients like you raise their voices about an issue they consider to be alarming, there’s little doubt it will become an issue at the next annual meeting.

Thanks for contacting us, Ms. Joubarne, and we appreciate your continued business with RBC Royal Bank. We’ll be happy to help you again if there’s anything else you’d like to discuss.

If you prefer, you can call us any time at 1-800-769-2512. Also, look for the option to chat live with us on select pages on www.rbcroyalbank.com .

I am a Visa credit card account holder and fervent blogger. I am, by way
of this letter, registering my absolute fury over Visa’s anti-democratic
behavior…that you would think for one minute that you have the right to
interfere with my support of any person or organization I choose,
particularly when that person and organization has never been found guilty
of any crime is very upsetting.

I am giving Visa a week to reverse their decision to engage in tyrannical
and controlling behavior otherwise I am going to apply for and use a non
MasterCard and non-Visa affliated credit card. And, I will encourage all
my blog readers to do the same en-masse.

I look forward to your speedy response to my concerns,

Q.   I was diagnosed with IBS in 2000, but medication isn’t helping.  Could  Hypnotherapy provide relief?               Louise H.

A.    IBS – Irritable Bowel Syndrome arises out of a disruption in the rhythmic impulses of smooth muscle in the bowel.  Pain and cramps arise when two portions of bowel close to each other both are stimulate to contract and the portion of bowel in between distends.  Causes may include life trauma, post-infectious state, genetic/familial factors, and possibly even certain pain relief medications.

IBS, which affects more women than men, is experienced as a cluster of symptoms including bouts of constipation, diarrhea, abdominal pain and bloating.

Mayo clinic Proceedings, 2005 Review of Hypnosis in Contemporary Medicine Gastroenterology stated:  Patients with irritable bowel syndrome had significant improvements in well-being, bowel habits, distention symptoms and pain, with no relapses at 18-month follow-up.

The National Health Service in the United Kingdom established its first hypnotherapy unit, with six therapists on staff dedicated to treatment of IBS and other GI disorders with Hypnotherapy. evaluation of the effectiveness of the treatment among the first 250 patients in the unit clearly demonstrated hypnotherapy remains an extremely effective treatment for irritable bowel syndrome and should prove more cost-effective then drugs.

American Journal of Gastroenterology Nov O2/Feb 2003: Vol 17-6 – Vol 18 No 1 stated that hypnotherapy is an effective treatment for IBS.

Research since the 1980s has consistently shown that due to it’s cost-effectiveness, long-lasting symptom relief and gentleness, hypnotherapy should be the treatment of choice for IBS.

I have specialized Hypnotherapy training in IBS and Fibromyalgia pain releif, so don’t hesitate to contact me for more information anytime at 613-422-7027, 1-888-390-3553 or by email info@graceplacewellness.com .

While the UN persuaded countries to control carbon monoxide emissions in transportation and industry in 1997, indoor quality was 10x worse than outdoor air.  EPA research showed one cause of indoor air toxicity is the propane and natural gas appliances so many of us cook over.   They produce odorless carbon monoxide and nitrogen dioxide.

In the 1950’s, Dr. Theron Randolph proved women using gas ranges developed specific illnesses, the most prevalent were depression, apathy, circulatory problems, confusion, fatigue, memory loss and all sorts of infections.  His 800 patients recovered once gas exposure stopped.

Depression is only one of the  toxic effects of nitrogen dioxide and carbon monoxide: even at extremely low levels of exposure, these gases inhibit respiration, decrease brain activity, cause oxidation of unsaturated fatty acids in cell membranes, are carcinogenic (cancer-causing), form nitrosamines which are powerfully carcinogenic,  bind with blood components to cause hypoxia, and cause long and short-term brain damage.  Most at risk are kids and the elderly.

Gas ranges no longer have pilot lights and carbon monoxide detectors are now readily available. It is troublesome however, that these detectors do not show you the levels of nitrogen dioxide because as little as 0.1 parts per million per cubic meter of air is extremely harmful.

It is highly recommended that you get rid of gas ovens…breathing in those gas fumes every time you cook cannot be healthy and life-giving.  Because these gases cause the formation of free-radicals, which in turn are the root-cause of cancer, it is very wise to get started on top-quality anti-oxidants.

Highly refined sugars and carbohydrates, found in virtually all foods in grocery stores and fast-food outlets enter the bloodstream quickly and produce rapid fluctuations in blood glucose levels.

According to Alan Greene, MD, giving your child a breakfast containing fiber (berries, bananas, whole-grain cereal, etc.) instead of sugary cereals will improve behavior, learning and attention span. Ditto for lunch and treats.

Sugar is affecting your children’s  behavior, health, and emotions if they:

• have crying jags

• go from charming to moody

• exhibit low self-esteem even though he or she is smart, skilled, and capable

• seem to feel alone, isolated

• want sweet foods all the time

• have meltdowns or a very short fuse

• often behave impulsively

• act restless

• tend to be a motor-mouth

• have a hard time paying attention

• have lots of allergies and/or wet the bed

• have persistent ear infections

• have a weight issue and/or diabetes

• come from school exhausted.

The sugar addicted child feels inadequate, overwhelmed, low self-esteem, victimized and takes things personally.

After being weaned off one of the most highly addictive substances in our food supply, your child will think clearly, be able to focus, feel confident, self-loved, in control, motivated, enthusiastic.

Not only is sugar not nutritious or a ‘food’, it  actually leaches vitamins and minerals from the body to digest it…thus you’ll starve faster on water and sugar then on water alone!!  Combined with the hidden additives in the food he eats, it’s deadly.

David Suzuki (Oct99): “When [corporate] scientists say these products [Genetically Engineered foods] are safe, they are either stupid or lying.” Independent scientists (2005) proved our gut cannot process this genetically altered food, now responsible for horrific new diseases such as Morgellon, soaring cancer, IBS, Chronic Fatigue and Fibromyalgia rates and the kill-off of 30% of Thailand’s bees.

Pigs, deer, raccoons, mice, rats —none will eat GE grains or beans. 94% of Canadians do not want GE foods …yet, 80% of all processed foods contain indigestible GE foods—without our knowledge … scorpion genes in tomatoes, fish genes in strawberries, bacterial genes in soya and corn, human and frog genes in potatoes.

Monsanto, et al, dedicated to feeding us GE foods also specialize in pesticides, herbicides and drugs. Pharmaceuticals profit as their pesticides and frankenfoods sicken us, deplete the soil, use 10x more pesticides with very low crop yields.

European banned GE food, so Canada lost its canola export industry. Western Canada now faces the GE- super weeds predicted.

From 1980 our taxes subsidized GE companies ($700 million annually); our government refuses to require labeling of GE Foods.

Research conclusively shows:

* GE foods adversely affect the immune system, pancreas, reproductive system, brain, thymus and ovaries; the residual pesticides and herbicides can trigger cancer and endocrine diseases and promote antibiotic resistance;

* Chemicals connected with GE crops further degrade the soil, reduce key nutrients, lead to increased allergic disease, promote emergence of new viruses and the extinction of entire eco systems.

* GE pharmaceuticals have uses for biological warfare, (eg. virus-bacteria of Gulf War Syndrome).

Q.  The school forced me to put my son on drugs for ADHD, but he’s in a stupor all the time. He went wild and out of control when I stopped the drugs.
What’s happening?   Carole A.

A.  Can you imagine what it must be like to be drugged 24/7 and not be able to explain the headaches, withdrawal symptoms, nausea, stomach cramps, etc. etc?  When you try to take your son off the drugs now, he is facing major withdrawal symptoms. Dr. Fred Baughman states that with very few exceptions, mental disorders have no scientific basis… a handful of psychiatrists/ psychologists sit around a table and decide what constitutes ‘normal’.

I urge all parents/caregivers to read:
The ADHD Fraud by Dr. Fred Baughman &
Manufacturing Victims by Dr. T. Dineen

These drugs have not been tested or approved for children. Using any drug on a human mind has terrible effects resulting in changes in perception, mood, consciousness and behavior …using them on a developing mind prevents normal development altogether.

A child IS perfectly normal if he is fidgety after periods stillness, curious about everything, shy or precocious, talkative, playful, energetic, etc.     If there is a genuine problem with the child’s behavior, check environment and diet for the solution….allergies, food additives, TV, bullying at school, poor sleep or just too much stress in the home. Parents and caregivers need to arm themselves with facts so they can say…”Not so fast.  What is he/she doing exactly that is not ‘normal’ for a child and define ‘normal’?”

There are hundreds of natural ways of assisting children to become healthy, balanced adults.

Q.    Just what does ‘normal’ feel like and how will I know when I’m emotionally free?     Doreen H.

A.    We were all born new and emotionally free.   However, society’s norms, pressures and beliefs have twisted many of us into individuals who do not know or appreciate our worth as equals to everyone else.

Unhappiness is described in many ways:  a ‘pit’ in one’s stomach; a persistent ‘sinking’ feeling; feeling hopeless, victimized by life, never ‘good enough’; feeling held back in life; doing and saying things that one doesn’t mean or feel, dependency on others/substances,  low self-worth, and feeling unsafe.

‘Normal’ is whatever state of being that the person themselves deems to be happy, self-fulfilling and satisfying. What society thinks ‘normal’ is, is irrelevant.  This probably sounds like common sense, however, how many of us make decisions every day based on what others think, might think and do think about us?

You know you are emotionally free when you:

* feel consistently content and accepting of yourself regardless of unpleasant life circumstances;
* feel in control of your life; unpleasant emotions are naturally released;
* regardless your station or purpose in life, have an abundance of self-acceptance, self-esteem and self-respect, feeling permanently lighter, happier, optimistic and well;
* no longer feel driven to ‘prove’ yourself;
* are free of persistent negative feelings- your behavior consistently reflects your belief in yourself as good;

Q.     Should I eat butter or margarine or ???         Don E.

A.    As part of my Weight Management Program, I delve deeply into these very issues.  You decide:

* margarine is one molecule away from being the plastic tub it comes in and shares 27 ingredients with paint;  left out on the counter, not even mould can grow on it.
* butter from dairy sources typically contain lots of salt, artificial coloring and additives
* what you need are excellent sources of Omega Oils to keep your brain and tissues happy and healthy
* The best sources of Omega Oils (in this butter/margarine topic) are pure, unprocessed oils like Extra virgin Olive Oil, cold-pressed Coconut Oils, etc…used in baking, frying or any cooking, spread on bread or used as bread dips.
* Buttery spreads made of natural oils mixed together look like and essentially taste like butter, but are healthy, free of additives and hydrogenation and easily digested. Check them out at any reputable health food store.
* If any oil is subjected to extreme heat or processed, the oil becomes hydrogenated and damaging and you may as well just eat the margarine(or the plastic tub).
* Cold-pressed and virgin oils don’t make you fat; margarine, butter and lard do. Good Oils feed you; margarine and hydrogenated products hurt you.

Yes,  good quality natural oils are a little more expensive, but it’s pay now or pay later.  As the saying goes, ‘garbage in, garbage out’…if you don’t take care now, illness will cost you big time.

Q.    I can’t seem to get rid of my sad and worried feelings no matter what I try.  Can hypnotherapy help me?       ~D.C.

A.    The mind, body and emotions are all connected…typically there is a significant positive result with Hypnotherapy. I see no reason that it would not work for you too as Hypnotherapy helps normal people with normal problems of everyday life.

Without the co-operation of the subconscious, little changes, as addicts know only too well. When pain and trauma are released from the subconscious mind, you can experience calmness, peace and a feeling of joy from resolving old issues, changing behaviours and old patterns, leaning new information, connecting with your inner wisdom and changing your perception of yourself and others.

Hypnotherapy is probably the only healing modality that allows the client total control over the healing process.  It utilizes the natural trance state as a launching pad for life-changes healing the whole person without drugs, labels/diagnoses and dependency.

Research shows hypnotherapy successfully assists with anger, frustration, low self-esteem, low self-worth, shyness, sadness, unresolved grief, depressive feelings, motivation, study and exam problems, anxiety, allergies, surgery, skin conditions, IBS, Fibromyalgia, healing from surgery or injury, hypertension, headaches, obesity, childbirth, cancer, tinnitus, asthma, impotence and urinary incontinence.

Stay tuned as we bring you more insight into many natural ways of healing!  (send Questions to  AskGrace@graceplacewellness.com
